TomTom GO 920T - Traffic Edition

The new top of the range satnav system from TomTom is the GO 920T - Traffic Edition. It has all the great features of the GO 920 but now comes with real-time traffic information to ensure all journeys are planned in the most efficient manner.

The GO 920T comes with a 4.3-inch wide touch screen with superb graphics making the display simple to read. Control of the 920T is through the touch-screen menu system for which TomTom are famous.

The new bundled 920T comes with the TomTom RDS-TMC traffic information receiver in the box. Simply plus the module into your new TomTom 920 and the system will receive the most up to date traffic information for your current location ensuring that all route planning is done to the optimum.

Traditional satnav systems didn't benefit from real-time traffic information - the benefit is that the system can take into account hold-ups, congestions, traffic accidents ahead when planning the optimum from A to B.

The 920T comes preloaded with street-level mapping for Central and Western Europe as well as USA and Canada (North America) - it truly is an international system.

The system utilises the latest TeleAtlas mapping data to ensure the system information is accurate as possible.

The system comes with the TomTom MapShare technology allowing instant changes to mapping data to be made and to allow the current user to share changes in mapping data with other system users

Connecting the GO 920T to a personal computer could not be simpler using the TomTom HOME software supplied with the system.

Enhanced Positioning Technology uses gravity sensors together with the systems movement to provide a far more smoothed navigational experience with continued navigation even in difficult conditions - such as when the system is out of line of sight with the satellites in orbit - such as passing through a tunnel or through a built-up city centre or woodland/forest.

Bluetooth capability is also present allowing the user to use the 920T in conjunction with a Bluetooth-enabled mobile phone (available separately) to both make and receive telephone calls in a safe, hands-free environment.

Entering destinations is straightforward - the system now comes with voice-recognition to allow quick and easy entering of destinations. There is also the usual option of entering addresses and postcodes if that is more your cup of tea!

In addition to this, the 920T also has "text to speech" capabilities - this allows the system to actually speak road names - "turn left into Duchess Road" is far safer than "take the third turnin left" - by speaking the road name the system prevents the need for the driver to have to look at the screen to identify clearly which road they have to turn into - thereby allowing the driver to keep their eyes on the road ahead.

The system comes with 64MB of internal memory and memory can be expanded further using SD memory cards.
