TomTom GO 920TomTom GO 920

The new TomTom GO 920 comes with numerous state of the art features which the discerning driver would expect from a top end system such as the TomTom GO 920. This great satnav system is available from Amazon

The unit comes equipped with a 4.3-inch wide touch-screen to provide optimum clarity and brightness in all driving conditions. In common with other satnav units in the TomTom range, controlling the TomTom GO 920 is done through the intuitive touch-screen menu system.

Incumbent in the new range of satnav systems is the MapShare technology allowing users to instantly share and update mapping data. An RDS-TMC traffic information receiver is expected to be included in the box and this will received realtime traffic information for the roads in the vicinity of the user. This information can prove important in planning an enjoyable, efficient journey from destination to destination.

In addition to the real-time traffic information available through the TomTom's RDS-TMC traffic information receiver, the user can also subscribe to the TomTom PLUS range of services.

TomTom PLUS is a range of subscription services which allow the TomTom GO 920 user to enhance the satnav system's usability. The PLUS services included real-time traffic and weather information as well as the ability to download traffic safety-camera locations, more voices, points of interest and plenty more features.

In addition to the touch-screen menu system, voice-recognition capabilities allow the user to input chosen destinations by talking to the TomTom GO 920. TomTom have also built on their previous hands-free capabilities with the new system having enhanced clarity when the system is used in conjunction with a suitably enabled mobile phone for making and receiving calls.

The TomTom GO 920 also comes with a built-in FM transmitter allowing music and driving instructions to be played through the cars existing stereo system.

As would be expected with the next generation of TomTom's "text to speech" capability is included - this clever facility allows the TomTom to SPEAK ROAD NAMES. The main benefit of this is that it allows the user to keep their eyes on the road ahead and limits the need to look at the satnav's screen to work out which road the TomTom GO 920 is directing the driver to turn into. "Turn left into Chapel Lane after 400 yards" ensures the driver knows exactly what the next maneouvre is and can continue driving whilst maintaining maximum attention to the task in hand.

The TomTom GO 920 comes with comprehensive mapping data for Western Europe and North America (USA and Canada) covering some 41 countries in Western and Central Europe allowing those who drive regularly within main-land Europe to enjoy seamless navigation across borders.

IMPORTANT - CHECK THE MAPPING SUPPLIED WITH YOUR SYSTEM BEFORE PURCHASE AS IT COULD DIFFER FROM THE GENERAL SPECIFICATION LISTED ABOVE.

Enhanced Positioning Technology uses the vehicles movement and gravity sensors to enhance the quality and accuracy of the satnav units navigation capabilities.

Following the introduction of the TomTom GO 920, its' forerunner the TomTom GO 910 is still available and there should be some good bargains to be had with the 910 system as well.
