TomTom GO 510

The new TomTom GO 510 is the entry-level system from the new "GO" range. Although it is "entry-level" don't let that fool you - this is a very comprehensive satnav system.

The GO 510 has a high quality, wide, 4-inch touch-screen. This is a first in satellite navigation systems and makes the new GO range even easier to use. The system is intuitive and the system is controlled using the touch-screen menu system for which TomTom is renowned.

Street level map data is included for the UK as well as the major roads of Europe. Additional maps can be purchased. All maps come stored on SD memory cards which can easily be switched in the unit's housing.

The TomTom GO 510 comes complete with the new TomTom HOME software package. TomTom HOME allows users to easily manage, download and store content from their computer on to their satnav unit via the USB port.

Every new TomTom GO also comes with the HOME dock allowing users to easily connect to the TomTom HOME system through their computer. Transfer of information between PC and satnav unit is now simpler than ever - no need to worry about tricky configuration of your PC.

Advances in technology have greatly improved GPS performance and today's systems are now quicker to obtain initial satellite fixes and hold them for longer. Plenty of features and software improvements have been included by the Amsterdam-based company.

A bluetooth mobile phone can now be connected to the TomTom 510 so now the user can use their bluetooth mobile hands-free, using the GO 510 to control calls.

TomTom PLUS services are also available as an add-on. These provide the 510 with real-time traffic and weather information allowing the user to plan their journey in a more efficient way.

Speed Alert is a new feature to the GO range - the TomTom 510 can be programmed to warn if your speed is becoming excessive - a good safety feature.

The renowned hands-free calling functionality has improved further and the pre-installed Safety Camera database is now available across the range, making it even easier and safer to navigate to your destination.

The TomTom GO 510 is a very competent performer and well worth considering.
