Sony NVU-50G

The Sony NVU50G is an entry-level GPS satnav system and is ideal for the driver who wishes to make their first satnav purchase but doesn't want to pay too much.

The NV-U50G comes ready to use straight out of the box. The NVU50G has a 3.5-inch colour screen which is bright and clear with anti-glare and anti-fingerprint coating to ensure the screen is clear at all times. The built-in rechargeable li-Ion battery ensures that the NV-U50G is portable and can easily be transferred from one car to another. An in-car power adapter is also included.

Controlling the system is simple through the easy-to-use menu-driven control system. All menu options are just a few clicks away and finding where you need to be in the systems control settings is not difficult.

Mapping is provided for both UK and Republic of Ireland based on the Navteq mapping data. Maps can be displayed in 2D or 3D and the unit also gives voice-guided turn by turn instructions.

The Sony NV-U50G can be linked to the NVA-CU3T TMC cradle to allow real-time traffic information to be received by the system. This allows the user to avoid hold-ups caused by roadworks, traffic accidents, congestion etc.

The coupling of a satnav system with a real-time traffic information receiver is a wise move - there's little point in planning a route only to find out that this route is blocked, causing an inconvenience.

The NV-U50G can be connected to a PC using a USB cable and the maps and software which are pre-installed on the unit can be backed up.

The unit comes with over 75,000 pre-installed Points of Interest covering such locations as hotels, petrol stations, restaurants etc. Locating a local amenity is no problem using the Sony NV-U50G.

Finding a Point of Interest is as simple as clicking a few buttons, choosing the category you are interested in and the system will navigate you effortlessly to that amenity.
