Navman iCN 720
The Navman iCN720 was introduced in the latter part of 2006. It is a comprehensive satnav system with a new twist in satellite navigation.
It is now possible to store your favourite locations using pictures! The Navman iCN720 allows you to identify your destinations as pictures, rather than just names. These pictures can then be uploaded/downloaded to and from the Navman site and shared with friends and family.
The iCN720 has a built-in 1.3 megapixel digital camera. Additional geo-tagged pictures can also be imported by connecting the iCN720 to a PC with the USB cable supplied. This is known as Navpix technology and geo-tagged navpix can be downloaded from the Navman site here.
The unit has a 4 inch-wide colour touch-screen and street-level maps of the UK are included with the unit as standard.
The iCN720 comes with "Fuel" and "Park" buttons as standard, in common with other Navman systems available in the market today. These allow the user to quickly locate nearby car parking and petrol stations and the "Home" button navigates the user to their home or office location.
The optional T1 Traffic Pack allows for real-time traffic and motoring information to be received by the iCN720. The traffic pack works in the UK, France and Germany. Once the T1 unit has been purchased no additional subscription payments or fees are required. Information is received by the iCN720 in the RDS-TMC format and there is no annual licence for this "free to air" data.
The Back-on-Track feature automatically calculates a new route, based on current location, to the original destination, if the user should stray off the pre-planned route.
The iCN720 also comes complete with a very large Points of Interest (POI) database. This covers various locations such as hospitals, restaurants, petrol stations, cashpoints etc. Additional POI's can be added by linking the iCN720 to a PC. This feature is very useful - allowing the user to quickly locate an amenity close to their current position. Running low on fuel? Just choose "petrol stations" and the iCN720 will effortlessly navigate the user to the nearest petrol station.
The keypad is backlit and the unit can be operated in an anti-glare night mode. This avoids eye-strain when used at night.
The unit comes with a built-in battery and GPS receiver. This allows the unit to be transferred between vehicles for maximum flexibility. In-car and mains adapters are also included.
Voice-guided instructions take the driver to their destination and the route can be viewed in a number of modes - turn-by-turn, 3D Moving map, 2D mini map and next manoeuvre.
Destinations can be entered using either the full UK postcode or by entering towns, roads, house-numbers and Tele Atlas mapping data is used in conjunction with the SmartST 2006 navigation software.
This is a professional, comprehensive satellite navigation system.
