Magellan RoadMate 800

The Magellan RoadMate 800 is a top-of-the-range satellite navigation system. Controlling the system is straight-forward using a combination of the touch-screen menu's and the units physical buttons.

The RoadMate 800 comes with a windscreen mount, cigarette lighter adapter, AC power adapter and a USB cable for connecting to a personal computer.

The unit has a built in music player and can play both MP3 and WMA music files. The RoadMate 800 has 4.5GB of internal memory and this can be expanded with the use of SD/MMC memory cards (available separately).

The large 3.5 inch screen can also be used as a photoviewer. The pictures can be viewed on-screen or stored on the optional SD/MMC memory cards - an ideal storage facility for digital photo's when away from home.

Multi-Destination Route Optimisation is a great feature of the RoadMate 800. It allows the user to enter a number of different destinations and the RoadMate 800 will analyse the various permutations and combinations to calculate the optimum sequence in which to visit each destination. This feature alone makes this one of the key contenders for the professional driver, sales professional, courier etc,

The high resolution TFT LCD screen is crisp and bright and the graphics are clear and easy to read. The brightness automatically changes with the light conditions to ensure the screen is always visible to the user.

There is no need to download mapping information from your PC - mapping information comes from NAVTEQ and maps for the following European countries come pre-loaded:

England, Ireland, Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Greece, Portugal, Netherlands, Belgium, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Austria, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Andorra, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Monaco, the Vatican, San Marino.

Maps are also provided for the following countries and these can be unlocked for a fee:

The 50 United States, Puerto Rico, the US Virgin Islands and Canada.

The RoadMate 800 comes with a database of over 1,000,000 Points of Interest (POI's) which can be searched by "name" or "category". Points of Interest covering such locations as petrol station, hotels, hospitals, airports, etc allow the user to quickly locate an amenity near to their current location - another great feature of the RoadMate 800.

Turn-by-turn voice guidance is given, together with TrueView 3D navigation, in any one of six different languages - English, French, Dutch, Italian, German and Spanish.

Routes can be calculated in one of 4 different ways - shortest time, shortest distance, minimum use of motorways and maximum use of motorways. You can also track your journeys progress with the on-screen map.

In common with other satnav systems, automatic re-routing calculates a new route to the chosen destination if the driver should accidentally or deliberately leave the pre-planned route.
