Magellan RoadMate 700

Also coming from the Magellan stable is the RoadMate 700 which is a comprehensive, professional satellite navigation system.

Controlling the RoadMate 700 is easy using a combination of the touch-screen menu system and physical buttons located on the RoadMate 700's case. The unit comes with a windscreen mount, cigarette lighter adapter, AC power adapter and a USB cable. The USB cable is used to connect the RoadMate 700 to the user's PC.

The high-resolution TFT LCD screen is crisp and bright producing excellent graphics quality using TrueView 3D graphics. Another benefit of this system is that the brightness of the screen changes automatically with ambient lighting conditions ensuring the screen is always visible to the driver.

There is no need to download mapping information to the RoadMate 700 from your PC - Navteq provide the mapping data and this data comes pre-loaded for the following European countries:

Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, England, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Monaco, Netherlands, Northern Ireland, Norway, Portugal, San Marino, Scotland, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Vatican, Wales.

The unit is lightweight and portable and comes with a database of over 750,000 Points of Interest which can be searched by "name" or "category". Points of Interest can be petrol stations, hotels, hospitals, cash machines, recreation parks etc. By choosing a suitable category it is possible to view a list of suitable locations local to your current position - the RoadMate 700 will then navigate the user to the amenity with the minimum of fuss.

Turn-by-turn voice guidance is given in one of six different languages - English, French, Dutch, Italian, German and Spanish.

The WAAS and EGNOS enabled GPS Receiver is accurate to within 3 metres or better depending on conditions for consistently precise navigation. This level of precision is suitable for an in-car satellite navigation system.

Routes can be calculated in one of 4 different ways - shortest time, shortest distance, minimum use of motorways and maximum use of motorways. Tracking the progress of your journey is simple using the on-screen maps and other information.

If you should stray off the pre-planned route, then the RoadMate 700 will automatically recalculate a new optimised route to your destination taking account of your new current position - this ideal if you should accidentally stray off course or if you should purposely drive off course due to, say, a known traffic jam ahead.
